Depreciation method
The program supports the following depreciation methods:
- declining balance - the method of calculating depreciation costs is as follows:
- Depreciation for a given period = (Initial value - Total depreciation to date) * Depreciation rate
- Depreciation for the first and last periods is calculated differently if the first period is shorter than 12 months. The number of months is used to calculate the partial depreciation values:
- Depreciation for the first period = Cost * Rate * Number of Months to the end of the first period / 12
- Depreciation for the last period = ((Cost - Total depreciation to date) * Rate * (12 - Number of Months until the end of the last period)) / 12
- straight line - the method of calculating depreciation costs is as follows:
- Unit depreciation value per month = Present value / number of months to the end of depreciation
where Present value is the value of the fixed asset, as the difference between the balance value in the Fixed Asset account reduced by the value of past depreciations at that date.
- one-time - depreciation applied in the case when the equipment doesn't exceed the value specified in the Accounting Policy
